Colorado Divorce Requirements and Rules
To file for divorce in Colorado, you or your spouse must have been a resident of Colorado for at least 91 days immediately before filing the petition. If your case involves minor children, the child must have lived in the state for at least 181 days before initiating the divorce. Colorado is a no-fault divorce state, which means that you don't need to prove wrongdoing by either party, and that citing an irretrievable breakdown of the marriage is sufficient.
